Accessibility statement

The GOOD GUYS group operates in four fields — property appraisal, real-estate brokerage, insurance and finance — and treats accessibility as a condition of service rather than an addition to it. We are committed to letting every person, including people with disabilities, use our website, client portal and services equally, with dignity and independently, as required by Israel’s Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, 1998, and the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 2013.

Standard and conformance level

The site and the portal conform at level AA to Israeli standard IS 5568 part 1 (September 2023 edition), which adopts the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 of 11 December 2008 with national variations. Beyond what is required, the internal target we work to is WCAG 2.2 level AA plus the two criteria the Israeli standard is stricter on: 4.1.1 (valid markup), removed from WCAG 2.2 but still normative in Israel, and 2.4.10 (section headings), which is AAA in WCAG and AA in Israel. Accessibility is scanned automatically (axe-core) on every screen on every code change, alongside build-failing ratchets: colour contrast, a ban on physical CSS (which is what keeps right-to-left Hebrew from breaking), and a ban on any control that is an icon alone with no text or accessible name.

What this statement covers

It covers every page of the GOOD GUYS site: the home page, the four arms (property appraisal, real estate, insurance and finance), the knowledge centre, the free calculators and tools, the sign-in pages, and the client portal (personal area, cases, documents and messages). It does not cover third-party sites we link to and do not control.

What is accessible today

• Full keyboard navigation on every screen, including a "skip to main content" link as the first element of every page and a visible focus indicator on every interactive control.
• Correct language and direction marking: the page declares Hebrew / right-to-left, and English passages are marked in their own language, so a screen reader pronounces each correctly.
• Semantic structure for screen readers: a heading hierarchy, named landmarks (navigation, main, footer), and tables with a caption and marked column headers.
• Labelled forms: every field has a label, invalid fields are marked and tied to their error message, and status messages are announced to screen readers.
• Colour contrast meeting AA ratios. The brand gold is used for small text in a darker shade of the same ramp — an adjustment made without changing a single brand hue.
• The reduced-motion preference is respected: someone who asked for less motion does not get it.
• Adjustment toggles that persist in the browser: high contrast and larger text, one click, no sign-up and no broken layout.
• An icon is never alone: every control carries visible text or an accessible name, and decorative icons are hidden from screen readers.
• Content images carry alternative text; decorative images are marked as such and are not announced.
• The site is responsive and can be zoomed to 200% in the browser with no loss of content or functionality.

What is not accessible yet — honestly

An accessibility statement that declares everything accessible is worth nothing. These are the gaps known to us on the date of this statement, and they are being worked on:

• The system has not yet been tested by a human using a screen reader (NVDA/JAWS in Hebrew). Automated testing catches some failures, not all of them, and is not a substitute.
• PDF documents the system produces (agreements, appraisal reports, invoices) are not tagged and do not conform to PDF/UA. A client who needs an accessible version will receive one in an alternative accessible format on request, at no charge.
• Accessibility of the internal operations area (CRM) is tested with the same tooling but is not part of the service to the public.
• Physical accessibility of the office has not yet been surveyed. Until it is, we provide the full service remotely (phone, WhatsApp, portal) to anyone who needs it.

Which screen readers the site was tested with

In full transparency: as of the date of this statement the site has not yet been tested by a human using a screen reader. Such a test is planned and will cover NVDA and JAWS in Hebrew on desktop, and VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android) on mobile — the screen readers the Commission points to. The results will be published here and every finding fixed. Until then, conformance rests on full automated scanning (axe-core) of every screen on every code change, plus automated keyboard checks — which are not a substitute for a person.

Accessibility coordinator

Under section 19MB of the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, the duty to appoint an accessibility coordinator applies to a service provider employing at least 25 people. The GOOD GUYS group employs fewer, and is therefore not required to appoint one. We say so explicitly rather than leaving an empty field — and accessibility enquiries are handled through the channel below exactly as a coordinator would handle them.

An accessibility enquiry is treated as urgent: we provide an alternative accommodation promptly on receiving the notice, and fix the defect itself within a reasonable time and no later than 60 days from receipt.

To let us fix it quickly, please tell us which page or screen you had trouble with, what you were trying to do, and which browser and assistive technology you used. If you need an adjustment — a document in an accessible format, or being walked through a process by phone — ask for it and we will provide it.

If our answer did not satisfy you

You have the right to approach the Commission for Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the Ministry of Justice, the body authorised to enforce accessibility obligations, and to file a complaint. Contacting us first is not a precondition and does not limit that right.

Exemptions

We rely on no exemption from accessibility obligations: not a turnover exemption (the regulation 35F exemptions do not apply to a new site), not a technological exemption, not any other. The video-captioning duty (regulation 35D) applies to a provider whose average turnover exceeds five million shekels — and we do not lean on that either: the site carries no video content. Should an exemption ever be needed, we will publish it here explicitly — the component it covers, the reasoning, and the alternative accommodation given in its place.
